Interview with Dresden OpenSource UserGroup
You have an exciting hobby. Was it a big problem to get your own exhibition?#
Was this meant by exhibition for each or for a specific one?
The first one in Berlin. I guess the Orga effort was the biggest one there?#
The Orga effort was definitely longer, yes…
On Monday, 08.10.2018, I had started to paint. I didn’t think of an exhibition. I just wanted to paint, paint, paint, paint and paint. It was also not possible to upload to the Internet planned. I had been waiting about 7 months for this. Only from 16.05.2019 I have the acrylic paintings loaded on Pixelfed and just for fun. Termux, one of the very first painted Acrylbilder is even in this exhibition in Berlin.
The first feedback on my acrylic paintings was: “Krass, Acrylbilder, I only know this digitally with Photoshop and then still running some…”
Permanently, it certainly hits best, I uploaded my acrylic paintings to the Internet. One, one more, one more and one more and one more. I still wasn’t thinking about an exhibition. I wanted to just show others what I’m doing. At some point the moment came when I then became visible am. I have been contacted, Topio, an initiative from Berlin, which also deals with something like preoccupied.
On 15.10.2019 it was finally time and I visited Topio for the first time. A sketched a picture for a poster, where it said “The Artist mondstern is present.” A few people followed because they wanted to know who this moon star is who paints these acrylic paintings. They wanted thinking about exhibiting acrylic paintings of mine. It was very nice and we stayed in touch.
On 06.02.2020 the official request came to be able to exhibit in Berlin. What a joy. We we had written and talked on the phone. On 20.03.2020 I was in Berlin at noon and so the driver and I also wanted to know what this “open topio” is, I also stayed until the evening. So I was in Berlin from 12 to 20 o’clock. This had to be tasted directly.
From March to August 2020 I built myself an html/css website. How this went, I found at Codeberg gefunden. At the time it was still a website with several subpages and not the one that it is now shall.
Originally I was supposed to exhibit on 24.04.2020 in Berlin, if there were not the corona rules there would. So the exhibition had to be postponed. I mean, then it would be just this one day and I could not have stayed overnight.
On 19.05.2020 Topio asked in a news that they needed 20 empty orange boxes. I was thinking I wondered if that would be feasible and so I started asking at supermarkets. Late in the evening I had then really 20 orange boxes together. And on 20.05.2020 I have the 20 empty orange boxes to Berlin driven. Blatant action. Who comes up with such an idea.
On 17.07.2020 I got free for the art transport to Berlin at the museum. 70 Acrylic paintings were planned first, which is already a lot. And these should be there for a maximum of 7 months and then I would have to get these back. On 29.07.2020 Topio had printed out small pictures made of paper from all acrylic paintings, think about how this can be exhibited and experiment with a hanging around. Since the 3 large walls there were 3 hangings. They had also called to help. There are also people just after Berlin drove when they noticed that the moon star is exhibiting. I mean 10 people had a total of help.
We had distributed 500 flyers before, Topio in Berlin and I between Riesa and Dresden. Topio had among other things, a whole rain barrel full of crushed ice was given as a gift by a restaurant of the Arminiusmarkthalle so that we can keep the drinks cold.
On 31.07.2020 was the first hanging. A part has already been seen. Of course, I kept painting and Topio had informed me that there is still some space. So I drove 34 again on 14.08.2020 additional pictures to Berlin. We had all selected these and the other 70 before. On 22.08.2020 was the second and on Sunday, 23.08.2020, was the third hanging.
The vernissage was on a whole weekend, from 28.08. to 30.08.2020.
A total of 150 people came. Friday 50, Saturday 50 and Sunday 50. There was, among other things, an art historian there. People had approached me and wanted an appointment to talk. I said it was Saturday… is still free, etc. DIVA.EXCHANGE from Switzerland had also come. It was corona time and everyone who visited the exhibition was vaccinated. They showed that. After 4 weeks, the result was that no one had corona.
Topio e.V. was founded in 2021.
And to come back to the initial question again. Of course, the whole Orga effort was much greater than only have flyers printed and distributed, the rain barrel full of crushed ice and the hanging of the acrylic paintings. Also because I couldn’t even go to Berlin like that. Topio had prepared, I had properly prepared.
Thank you for your questions. If there are any more questions, just report. Many thanks.
